Jean has over 20 years of executive search experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, with a focus in clinical development and information science functions. A California native, Jean received her master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University and began her career in public service in New York City.
In 1996, she decided to follow her twin interests, life sciences and organizational development, and transitioned into pharmaceutical recruitment with Smith Hanley Associates, a boutique search firm specializing in clinical data sciences. In 2004 InVentiv Health bought Smith Hanley Associates, which enabled Jean to continue recruiting for outside clients as well as expand her function as a talent acquisition partner for internal clients.
Over the course of her 18-year career at InVentiv Health / Smith Hanley Associates, Jean built and managed a group practice with a focus on information technology and data sciences, and expanding to include clinical development and regulatory functions for major global pharmaceutical companies and fast-growing biotech companies.
In 2014 Jean established her own consultancy, AlphaKAP Strategic Search, to better serve small start-up clients seeking to fill key leadership positions. Jean also partnered with an investment firm for select assignments, spanning multiple functions for companies at early stages of financing.
Jean joined Ward Howell International as a Partner in the Life Sciences Practice in 2017. She lives in New York City with her family.
