Seeking out high-impact, game-changing talent, Lan is a passionate advocate, dedicated and determined to bring companies talent that matters. Based in Ward Howell’s New York office, Lan is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Practice, with specialization in legal, risk, regulatory, and compliance roles, including privacy and cybersecurity functions.
As a former litigator with over fifteen years’ experience in the retained executive search business, Lan has honed and applied to her search work excellent due diligence, problem-solving, and advisory skills. She excels where a sophisticated understanding is required for the more technical, emerging, and esoteric roles that have components of analytics, data, or digital expertise. Lan brings significant expertise recruiting a wide array of talent across multi-functions to the financial services industry, including insurance, banking, corporate finance, brokerage/securities, consumer finance, fintech, and beyond in related business services.
Prior to joining Ward Howell, Lan led the Financial Services Practice at Ellig Group and was a Managing Director at Chadick Ellig. She previously practiced law in Washington, DC, in the areas of complex business and regulatory litigation, particularly involving the federal government; one of Lan’s cases was awarded a record judgment of 909$ million in damages. She holds a JD from the University of Washington School of Law in Seattle and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Having come to the United States as a refugee, Lan is committed to human rights and, given her education, also has a strong interest in international affairs. She enjoys global travel and as a “maker” delights in figuring out how things work.
