Dr. Vikash Salig is a Partner with Ward Howell International and based in the USA.
Vikash has 25 years of experience within clinical medicine and life sciences. During the first 10 years (1990-2000) of his career he practiced as a medical doctor with a special interest in psychiatry. During this tenure he co-founded 2 multidisciplinary medical centers that encompassed primary, secondary and tertiary levels of medical care. This model with all “services under one roof” has proven to be an innovative and cost effective leader in the world of evolving comprehensive health care.
From 2000 to 2014, Vikash held executive leadership positions in pharmaceutical/healthcare companies with geographic experience in North America, Europe, Africa and South East Asia. His career in pharmaceuticals started with his role as Head of New Business Development for Aspen Pharmacare (South Africa), which is presently the 9th largest generic pharmaceutical company in the world (Turnover: $2.7 billion in 2014). Vikash was active in developing a strategic agreement with the largest generic antiretroviral API producer at the time. Aspen pioneered the introduction of low cost antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV/AIDS and has led this market since inception in 2004. He subsequently spearheaded the Africa operational start up for Hetero Drugs Ltd. where he established distribution operations in 14 countries in Africa and South East Asia.
During the period 2003-2010, Vikash co-founded a pharmaceutical company in South Africa, Venturepharm (Pty) Ltd. This entity entered into a joint venture with India’s leading pharmaceutical company, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd for South Africa and the Southern African region. Vikash was appointed CEO from inception until he successfully exited the JV to move to Florida, USA for the benefit of his 2 sons who are on the Autism Spectrum. Vikash is currently closely and actively involved with World Golf Hall of Famer, Ernie Els in his foundation Els For Autism, which is presently building a US$32 million state of the art Center of Excellence for Autism, which will accommodate 300 children/adolescents at the school in Jupiter, Florida. During the period 2011 to 2013, Vikash was Senior Director of Business Development (North America) for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (NYSE:RDY) where he was active in M&A, In-licensing and establishing a wholly owned subsidiary in Canada for Dr. Reddy’s Labs.
Vikash has developed lasting business development relationships and operations, around the globe with specialized pharmaceutical/healthcare knowledge and experience in the emerging markets as well as in Europe and North America. He is an accomplished international presenter and has delivered speeches and white papers at various local and international conferences. He chaired the World Generic Medicines Conferences in London, UK and Washington DC on 3 separate occasions with the Honorable Congressman Henry Waxman as keynote speaker. In addition to his medical degrees, Dr. Salig completed an Advanced Management Program in Health through the Manchester Business School, UK (1998) and an MBA degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa (1999). He has packaged his academic qualifications, entrepreneurial and global executive experience with a view to serving Life Science/Healthcare corporations through Strategic Leadership & Management Consulting incorporating Executive Search.
Vikash completed an accredited Neuroscience based Executive Coaching program at Harvard (2014).
