About Tim Kloostermann

Tim Kloosterman is Managing Partner of Ward Howell International in the Netherlands. Tim started his career in financial services, notably at insurance company Delta Lloyd, and later at NRG Reinsurance, an internationally operating company of ING Group N.V.

In the mid-eighties Tim, who already worked for NRG in Italy, Spain and France, extended his international exposure as he was invited to join the Netherlands Council for Trade Promotion NCH as a General Manager. In this position he was made responsible for Dutch investments and exports worldwide, more concretely in the Middle East, China, Africa, Korea, Japan and the United States.

His network was built in those early years and includes contacts with Board Members of (large) mid - caps, large corporates and multinationals, as well as with ambassadors and governments, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

In 1987, Tim was requested to move to Madrid in order to become the Managing Director of the Netherlands-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, in order to privatize an until that moment state-financed institution. Tim stayed for five years in Spain, thus completing a total of eight years in Trade and Investment promotion, when he decided to gear his career towards executive search.

And so it happened in 1992 for the first time that Tim joined Ward Howell International in Amsterdam. Since that year Tim has conducted many C-level assignments in the Netherlands, as well as in other countries, in cooperation with global partners. Upon joining Ward Howell, the company’s name changed then to Signium International, where Tim would stay until 2002. From 2002 to 2014 Tim has been active as a Partner of Amrop Executive Search. In 2014 he moved back to Ward Howell International and became Managing Partner of WHI the Netherlands.

Tim studied law at Leiden University, the Netherlands. Additionally he completed a Trusted Advisor Programme at IMD Business School in Lausanne (CH), and a Board Program at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, MA, U.S.A.

Tim’s native tongue is Dutch, and he fluently speaks Spanish, French, English and German. In the Netherlands he is an honorary member of the Spanish Association of Professionals. In recent years, Tim has held two supervisory board positions in the Netherlands, one at a management consulting firm and another one at an educational institute.
